Essential Duties: Daily, weekly and monthly opening and closing procedures of zipline course. Training and supervising the progress of guides interacting with guests including fitting harness and helmets correctly and supervision the use of all safety equipment. Training and oversight of pre-tour safety orientation, and daily, weekly and monthly inspections and documentation of course. Using customer engagement skills to ensure a memorable experience for each guest through training and encouragement of guides. Educating guests about the history of Sunderland Ranch as well as knowledge of mountain ranges. Assuring the safety and wellbeing of guests throughout each tour. Performing course rescues. Conducting complete inspections and documentation of all course components and gear. Full management of course maintenance efforts. Holding weekly /monthly meetings and trainings for guides and support staff. Reporting and documentation of all incidents to owners.

Pre-flight Duties: Inspecting all lines for safety. Inspecting each platform for safety, cleanliness, and supplies (water, first aid, etc.). Inspecting harnesses, pulleys, carabineers, and helmets for integrity and cleanliness. Staff training and oversight on weigh-in, waivers, and harness distribution. Oversight of video and photo systems including uploading and making sure guests receive proper and timely footage. Categorizing photography into computer and oversight on social media posts. Local marketing as guided and requested by owners.

 
  • Must be 25 years old

  • 5 years Min experience working in the zipline industry. 

  • 2 Years management experience. 

  • Able to manage employee scheduling and issues.

  • Able to perform course inspections and maintenance.

  • Lead overall course operation day to day and be willing to fill in where needed. 

  • Strong customer service and leadership skills.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work at heights. 

  • Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record and clean background check.

Zipline Guide


 

Overview of Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and exceptional experience for all Sunderland Ranch guests. Responsibilities include tying required knots, assisting guests in proper saddle and helmet fitting, demonstrating proper riding techniques, inspecting equipment, and educating guests about Sunderland Ranch history and knowledge of Alaska’s mountain ranges. Light cleaning or other tasks as assigned during slow periods including lawn and flower maintenance, work projects around course & course clean up throughout season. May include care of smaller animals on site.

Tour Duties: Meeting and establishing a rapport with each guest. Reviewing safety issues, answering questions. Demonstrating how to manage your horse. Continuing to build relationship with guests throughout the tour by using communication skills to listen, engage, and converse. Building excitement about the forthcoming experience. Introducing guests to features on our ranch, answers questions & makes conversation. Responsible for charting all weekly gear inspections, maintenance, including but not limited to washing, cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing the equipment. Responsible for taking pictures of the guests throughout the tour. Daily uploading of photography to Photo System and social media posts as instructed.

 
  • Must be 18

  • Must be comfortable working at heights.

  • Be able to lead a group in high stress situation. 

  • Able to work 8-10 hr. days on the course. 

  • Able to work well on a team. 

  • Able to adapt to out-of-scope work and maintain a good attitude. 

  • Provide great customer service to our clients.

Wrangler/ Ranch Camp Instructor


 

A wrangler must be dedicated to providing the best possible experience for their guests by maintaining healthy horses, a safe riding environment via strong communication and instruction, and a fun riding environment by appearing relaxed while remaining attentive. Wranglers are dedicated to actively promoting and positively representing the Sunderland Ranch.   

Camp Counselor:  All wranglers will be expected to cross over into our very busy, high energy day camps program offered to youth ranging in ages 8-12 and 12-15. This will include guided trails, lessons and arena games. It will also include other camp like activities. Please be aware that we are looking for candidates that ENJOY this.

 

Responsibilities and Requirements Include (Not limited to): 

  • Daily horse care, saddling and tack maintenance 

  • Greeting guests, taking out rides and participating in youth programs & camps 

  • Ranch maintenance (minor fence work, grounds keeping, barn care ensuring a tidy appearance) 

  • Moderate riding skills and knowledge of horse care with strong desire to continue learning 

  • Enjoy working with youth as a positive role model in all ranch activities/camps 

  • Valid driver’s license & transportation & Clean background check  

  • Professional and personal references 

  • Cellular phone available for work use 

  • Flexible schedule and availability (including Holidays and weekends)

Alaska Zipline Adventure Park & Sunderland Ranch

At Alaska Zipline Adventure Park we believe it is up us to make sure our guest is having the experience they paid for.  We expect our guides to be very attentive each guest to maximize their zipline experience. 

Alaska Zipline Adventure Park will provide all zipline training for guides, so prior experience for assistant guides is not necessary, but welcomed.  Our training sessions with professional trainers will ensure that you are well prepared for guiding AZAP’s course.  This training is designed to cover the specifics of AZAP.  Alaska Zipline Adventure Park is located just outside of Palmer Alaska one of Alaska’s original barley hay farms from the 1950s with some of the most amazing views around. 

Alaska Zipline Adventure Park does have on sight lodging for those guides who need facilities. These opportunities can be discussed throughout the hiring process.
