Waterfront Staff


 

As part of our Lifeguard team at Camp Twin Creeks this summer, your job will not only be to keep campers and staff safe at all water activities, but to make these areas of camp fun and engaging for all. Both our pool and lake are two of the most favorite areas on camp! 

Throughout the summer, your role will not only consist of Lifeguard, but also as Coach, Mentor, Role Model and Friend. You will spend your summer outside in a beautiful natural environment making a difference in the lives of others! If you have a background in Lifeguarding and/or Swimming or Swim Instruction, we would love to have you join our team. All Lifeguards will participate in Red Cross Lifeguard training directly on site with the other members of the lifeguard team.

 

Twin Creeks Pond: on our 2-acre pond, campers can have fun on our water slide, aqua zip line and can canoe and kayak in addition to swimming.

  • Camp Swimming Pool: our resurfaced swimming pool has always been a popular activity and will continue with the upgrades that we have made in the off season. 

  • Lake Moomaw: campers have the opportunity to head to Lake Moomaw for a day at the beach.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety and wellbeing of campers and staff during aquatic activities.

Qualifications:

  • First aid & CPR are required.  Camp will provide training if you are not already certified.

  • Ability to pass and maintain Red Cross Lifeguard training. Camp will provide training if you are not already certified.


 

Trekking & Nature Staff


 

As part of our team at Camp Twin Creeks, your job will not only be to keep campers and staff safe during the Tripping program, but to make our natural areas of camp fun and engaging for all.  Throughout the summer, your title may be Nature Instructor, but your role will be Coach, Mentor, Role Model and Friend. If you have a background working in nature and the outdoors and want to spend your summer outside in a beautiful natural environment making a difference in the lives of children, then please apply! 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure safety of camper and staff while leading outdoor and nature activities.

  • Must demonstrate strong desire to positively impact children in camp setting. 

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

  • Must be able to make sound decisions while leading trips both on and off camp property.

  • Must have a love for the outdoors. Hiking and/or camping experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants must possess the following skills and abilities:

    • Hiking protocols, 10 essentials.

    • Car camping/base camping protocols.

    • Leave No Trace principals.

    • Knowledge of forest and stream ecology.

  • First aid & CPR are required.  Camp will provide training if you are not already certified.

 

Ropes Course Instructor


 

As part of our team at Camp Twin Creeks, your job will not only be to keep campers and staff safe during Ropes Course activities, but to make these areas of camp fun and engaging for all.  Our High and Low Ropes courses are one of the busiest and most exciting places at camp!

Throughout the summer, your title may be Ropes Instructor, but your role will be Coach, Mentor, Role Model and Friend. If you have a background in climbing, ropes course, challenge course, or group facilitation and want to spend your summer outside in a beautiful natural environment making a difference in the lives of children, then please apply!

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the safety of self, staff, and participants. Responsibilities will include the proper set up and take down of ropes course facilities as well as inspecting equipment and property and documenting these inspections. Must be able to instruct participants on proper use of equipment and structures, and exercise good judgment while making independent decisions regarding all facets of the safe and effective use of the course. 

Qualifications:

  • First aid & CPR are required.  Camp will provide training if you are not already certified.

  • Experience facilitating or participating in group processing/planning discussions is highly sought as well as familiarity with group/team development.

  • Facilitators must be fully trained on Camp Twin Creeks operating procedures and successfully complete and pass our ropes course training.

  • Ropes course facilitation is physically demanding.  Please ensure that you are physically prepared for the long days.

  • Ability to relate to and work with diverse populations of participants.

 

Horseback Riding Instructor


 

As part of our team at Camp Twin Creeks, your job will not only be to keep campers and staff safe during their time in our Horse program, but to make camp fun and engaging for all.  Throughout the summer, your title may be Riding Instructor, but your role will be Coach, Mentor, Role Model and Friend. If you have a background in riding or equestrian instruction and want to spend your summer outside in a beautiful natural environment making a difference in the lives of children, then please apply!

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure safety of camper and staff while in the ring, stable and surrounding areas.

  • Inspect program area for potential hazards and note any deficient equipment. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants must possess the following skills and abilities:

    • Teach riding lessons in the ring and stable

    • Riding techniques (English), no jumping

    • Barn maintenance

    • Grooming 

    • Know basic horse physiology

    • Help maintain health and welfare of the horses

  • First aid & CPR are required.  Camp will provide training if you are not already certified. 

  • Be comfortable working long hours over uneven ground.

  • Must demonstrate strong desire to positively impact children in camp setting. 

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Located in the stunning Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia, Camp Twin Creeks is a premier traditional overnight summer camp. Campers from diverse backgrounds attend for 2 weeks at a time and enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities, making friends with children from allover the world whilst disconnecting from technology and connecting
with nature!

Working at Camp

Working as a summer camp counselor goes far beyond just a regular job;it’s an experience that is meaningful and will have a significant impact on both yourself and your campers. You will become a positive role model for young children who will look to you for guidance, support, advice and inspiration as they navigate their time at camp.

Create lasting memories and relationships as you explore the woods, problem solve and teach important life skills.

Unlike a typical internship or summer job, your role at camp will be diverse, ever-changing and require a wide range of skills and personality traits. As a result, your experience at camp will make you significantly more employable in the future as you develop your problem solving, communication, leadership and a multitude of additional professional skills. Working at camp can be hard and will stretch you beyond your comfort zone, allowing you to grow as an individual and as a professional. You will likely finish the summer with more grit, resilience and a better sense of who you are.
