Outdoor Adventure Director
Head of Outdoor Adventure Department
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Outdoor Adventure to lead and supervise our dynamic Outdoor Adventure program. This individual will oversee high- and low-ropes courses, climbing elements, zip-lining, and outdoor skills activities, ensuring a safe, engaging, and well-organized experience for campers and staff.
General Responsibilities
Plan, direct, and supervise the camp’s Outdoor Adventure program, including high and low ropes course elements, climbing tower, zip-line, and outdoor skills activities (including archery, biking, hiking, campfires, river trips, overnights and more!)..
Lead and mentor outdoor adventure specialists, coordinating schedules and providing guidance.
Maintain all adventure equipment, ensuring it meets safety standards and remains in excellent working condition.
Develop and oversee lesson plans and systems for managing outdoor adventure activities.
Desired Qualifications
At least 21 years old.
Training and experience with outdoor adventure programs, including high and low ropes courses, climbing, and outdoor skills.
Current belay and associated outdoor adventure certifications (will be certified again at camp as part of our training).
Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate an outdoor adventure program.
Ability to supervise staff and work collaboratively with camp leadership.
Passion for working with children and fostering personal growth in an outdoor setting.
Ability to accept guidance and supervision while contributing as a positive member of the Leadership Team.
Specific Responsibilities
Prepare the ropes and adventure course before and during staff training.
Teach and monitor the proper use of all equipment.
Conduct daily checks, safety logs, and end-of-season inventory for all equipment and supplies.
Help with ordering and maintaining necessary equipment and supplies.
Directly supervise all outdoor adventure staff, including ropes, archery, and outdoor skills specialists.
Ensure all campers and staff understand and adhere to adventure and ropes course safety rules.
Develop lesson plans and coordinate hobbies and activities within the program.
Create systems for staffing and activity coverage throughout the camp season.
Pack and store all materials and supplies at the end of the season.
Dates of Employment: June 4th - August 13th
