Summer Trip Leader


 

Bold Earth trip leaders facilitate safe, fun, and meaningful summer experiences for teenagers from all over the globe! In the process, we get to explore the outdoors and new cultures, contribute to local communities, learn new languages, and rock climb, raft and surf in some of the world’s most beautiful places. This position involves a unique combination of role modeling, leadership, laughter, games, and hard work. "We hear over and over again that a summer with Bold Earth is one of the the most fun and rewarding outdoor jobs in the world.

Bold Earth seeks to partner with trip leaders who will carry on our hard-won reputation for excellence; we hire leaders who are highly motivated role models with previous experience working with teenagers. Organizational skills, a sense of humor, and an ability to teach teenagers about leadership and adventure travel are the qualities we value most. We conduct multiple in-depth interviews, check references, and do background checks on all leaders.

Bold Earth trips have a maximum of 13 students with two to three trip leaders. New trip leaders are typically paired with a returning trip leader. Employment ranges from three to eight weeks, with all contracts no later than mid August.

Bold Earth is fully staffed for female trip leaders for summer 2024, and has a few spaces available for male or non-binary trip leaders.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 21 years old by June 15, 2024

  • Must be legally allowed to work in the U.S.

  • College graduate, or in the process of completing a degree

  • Proven successful leadership experience with youth

  • Wilderness First Responder and adult CPR certification by the start of staff training (June 2024)

  • High energy and good judgment and decision-making skills

  • No more than four points on your driving record in the past three years

  • Clean Background check

Bold Earth operates 12 to 21-day domestic and international adventure travel-based programs for teenagers designed to foster community, teach leadership, and enhance global citizenship. Trip leaders facilitate safe, fun, and meaningful summer experiences for teenagers from all over the globe. In the process, Leaders get to explore beautiful areas, contribute to local communities, and make a positive impact in the lives of teenagers. Trip leaders are in charge of managing group dynamics, coordinating logistics, and leading and assisting with activities that include backpacking, rock climbing, snorkeling, sea kayaking, surfing, whitewater rafting, cooking and more. The Bold Earth trip leader position involves a unique combination of risk management, role modeling, leadership, laughter, games, and hard work! Compensation starts at $500/week for first year leaders, and includes a paid week-long staff training, all meals (you'll eat well!) and accommodations, and industry pro deals on outdoor gear. Applicants must be 21 years old, a college graduate or working towards a degree, WFR certified, demonstrate prior leadership experience with youth, and have an ability to facilitate fun. Bold Earth is especially seeking leaders who will return year after year and contribute to their amazing staff culture.

2024 staff training runs from June 18th–25th just outside of Denver, CO, with contracts ending no later than mid-August.
