Rock Climbing Instructor
Are you passionate about Rock Climbing and want to inspire kids to find that same love for outdoor adventures? Our Climbing Instructors are the cornerstone of our Rock Climbing programs across all locations. In the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, at our remote overnight residential camps, in the beautiful parks around the California Bay Area, or outside of Seattle in the Pacific Northwest - we know there is a place for you to adventure all summer. Our Instructors will co-lead a group of up to 13 campers through a progressively challenging biking program and teaching Leave No Trace principles. They serve as a role model for campers teaching them important safety protocols, exhibiting appropriate behaviors, and creating a positive environment for learning and growth. Instructors are representatives of Avid to both campers and parents and live our core values in everything we do. Programs begin between May and June, location depending, and run through Mid August.
Qualifications:
Personal and/or professional climbing experience a must have! This includes possessing thorough knowledge of common climbing knots and climb technical skills While at least 1+ years of experience working with kids in a professional or volunteer setting is preferred, candidates with extensive experience with rock climbing are still highly encouraged to apply. A Basic First Aid and CPR certification is required by the start of camp, but we’ll point you in the right direction to get certified before camp starts (Expeditions and Overnight Camp Instructors required to have a WFR/WFA by the start of camp). Driving campers to and from program locations is required for most locations (and receive a compensation bump for the extra responsibilities). Staff must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license to drive campers
