Search & Rescue Supervisor
Position: Search & Rescue Supervisor
Location: McMurdo Station, Antarctica
Position type (Three-quarter time / seasonal deployment August - February): This is a unique position to include a 5-6 month deployment to Antarctica as well as 2-4 months of remote work while not deployed.
Required Qualifications: Valid driver license, Current CPR certification and current Wilderness First Responder certification (WEMT or higher is preferred); Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200 certifications (free training offered through FEMA)
Preferred Qualifications: (WEMT or higher is preferred), Mountain guiding certification with AMGA or international equivalent strongly preferred, Incident Command/team-lead Alpine SAR experience preferred

Rate of Pay: $2,088 per week
Position Summary:
Primarily responsible for direction, training, and supervision of all USAP Search and Rescue members as well as maintaining all USAP Search and Rescue assets. Serves as operations manager and team leader in all SAR events as well as participates in instructing the US Antarctic Program (USAP) field safety training courses, and in the daily operations of the field equipment center. Preventative search and rescue measures and thorough risk analysis of all field based science operations are a critical aspect of this role.

Field Safety Coordinator
Position: Field Safety Coordinator
Location: McMurdo Station, Antarctica
Position type: Seasonal (Antarctica austral Summer season August – February)
Required Qualifications: Valid driver license, Current CPR certification and current Wilderness First Responder certification, Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200 certifications (free training offered through FEMA)
Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of eight years of experience in outdoor education and leadership is required, to include at least four years of technical mountaineering and guiding in glaciated alpine environments, Mountain guiding certification with AMGA or international equivalent strongly preferred, alpine SAR team experience preferred

Rate of Pay: $1,276 - $1,392 per week
Position Summary:
Supports the National Science Foundation managed United States Antarctic Program as part of the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC). Field Safety Coordinators will conduct field safety training courses, provide direct field safety support to science groups, conduct route safety assessment on sea ice or while on traverse and participate in daily operations of the Science Support Center (SSC). Tasking is based on employee’s prior work experience, project requirements and ASC schedule requirements.
