Hiring: Integrated Education Instructor


Overview:

We are located on 365 acres of forested woodland and waterfront in Augusta, MI. Our ACA Eleanor Eels Award Winning Integrated Education Program serves over 5,000 students each year. The IE Program's collaborative, positive and student centered approach helps each student find success both academically and socially. Character development through experiential activities is at the core of all programming.

Sherman Lake YMCA Outdoor Center delivers life-changing experiences through the discovery of the great outdoors, skill development and guidance in the importance of building healthy relationships. We are located on 365 acres of forested woodland and waterfront in Augusta, MI. Our ACA Eleanor Eels Award Winning Integrated Education (IE) Program serves over 5,000 students each year. The IE Program’s collaborative, positive and student centered approach helps each student find success both academically and socially.

Position Qualifications:

Applicants must be 18 years or older, available Monday through Friday, days and overnights

Position Responsibilities:

Integrated Education Instructors will facilitate experiential and character based curriculum for local area schools throughout our 3 – 5 day residential programs.

  • Set-up a cabin group of students from beginning to end using tools like community commitment, team building games, and bag of tricks to create a great experience for every student

  • Set-up and facilitate all programs run through Sherman Lake Y Camp such as climbing, archery/mineshaft, fire building, team building/low ropes, kayaking/canoeing, geocaching/orienteering, nature & art (training provided)

  • Positive reinforcement, character education integration and strength based approach to program delivery and conflict resolution.

  • Spend the nights in cabins with the students

Dates of Employment: Fall/Winter Season Staff training begins September 4th

  • Positions are available during the Winter/Spring (late January to late May) and Fall (September to mid-December)

Benefits:

  • Salary range - $65-$75/day

  • Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid courses provided

  • Housing provided - small group living and single gendered housing.

  • YMCA membership during time of employment.
